7 LED Solar Landscape Lamp

This little item turned up for me this afternoon7 LED Solar Lamp after languishing in the post for longer than I care to mention.

I don’t blame the Chinese supplier Banggood for this as Spain is a long way from China and they would not be aware that last-mile delivery company Seur are worse than useless – they know now.

The unit arrived with trivial (easily fixed) damage despite adequate packaging – again I suspect the company doing the local part of the delivery and I’ve warned Banggood and others in the delivery chain about them so the chances of you getting my experience are very slim.

These units are cheap for what you get – a decent sized solar panel, what looks like good casing, 7 decent, powerful RGBW LEDs and simple control. There is one button which cycles through the available colours – hold it down until you get there, then press again to fix. Took me minutes to work that out but now I’m done you won’t have to think about it. I note the price to Spain is under 15 Euros and free shipping, it will be similar to other European countries. USA pricing is more or less the same and they can ship from the USA as well.

I’ll give this a good hammering once it is fully charged to make sure it is reliable (that’s after I’ve finished choosing the colour I want to use). Just a shame the colour choices are basic, so any intensity of RED, GREEN, BLUE, YELLOW, CYAN, MAGENTA or WHITE but no PINK etc. RED and WHITE would have done that nicely.

I have my own photos but the stock ones are prettier as you’ll see… and accurate… the clear front on this lamp is not glass which makes me wonder how long they’ll survive hot sun (which may or may not be a problem depending on where you live). Height is 37cm (14.57”) from the top of the solar cell to the bottom of the spike. Length of the solar cell plus lamp is 20cm (7.87”)

The unit has a 5v 1.5w solar panel, a 16850 Lithium battery and 7 RGBW LEDS (the WHITE is a nice, cool white and the colours are bright (unless you set them to low). Power is 1.55W, working hours are claimed to be 8 hours and material is ABS. That working time claim is way too vague to be useful but I’ll soon know.

Angle of illumination is freely adjustable but of course you’ll want to keep the solar panel facing the sun. These are not your PoundStretcher rubbish but time will tell how waterproof the lamps are. I’m automatically suspicious of anything that isn’t all glass and stainless steel but you never know.

No brand name that I could make out. Here are the direct Banggood links:
